Making homemade soap as a gift can be very easy and very fun. Homemade soaps are great gift ideas, because it can also stir up lots quite large and attractive of them in a day or two to satisfy all your holiday gift list. I made these as gifts for Christmas some years ago and some of the beneficiaries were genuinely unsure whether these were bought in a shop, or if I really had.

The process of making these gifts is quite simple. Simply melt the soap base for a few minutes in the microwave, add natural scents and scrubs, poured into molds and allow to cool. That's it! Creating unique names and gift tags can be added to the creativity and the presentation of these gifts to make it even more memorable. Purists might use soap a more difficult process, requiring the use of bleach and therefore not a safety issue, but I found that the melt and pour soap variety as a gift can be as elegant, much easier and safer, and creativity can be involved in every step of the process.

You can get a basic olive oil soap (and some of the other ingredients) to Michael, or other craft store if you can not wait for shipping, but has many options brambleberry.com interesting, quality soap bases that would be a shame not to use them. I used aloe vera base, cream and dreamy goat's milk, shea butter, organic clear, a base of honey and even have the basis of shaving, which would make an idea homemade gift that is more accessible to kids.

Ingredients ...

As soon as your base is melted, you can add ingredients. Now there are options too numerous to mention here, but I will mention a few. As has aromas, blackberry leads a wide variety of essential oils and other flavorings. Again, you can get some of them to Michael, or better yet your local health food store, Whole Foods or co-op grocery. They tend to be somewhat expensive in terms of odor, which is why blackberry is a cheaper alternatives such as extracts and fragrance oils. Oils essential, although expensive, have a stronger, purer scent than any other flavors, so if you're making large batches I would recommend get some of the basics. The ones I'd recommend that essential oils of lavender is a calming of Nice, a citrus oil such as bergamot, which is a great uplifting, "wake up" the smell, and perhaps a rosemary, eucalyptus or peppermint. You can obtain an essential oil sampling kit blackberry. Also carry a wide variety of scrubs. My personal favorites are the shredded sponge and pumice. You too can be creative and use oatmeal (which many people combined with honey), peel extract light as bamboo and walnut seeds, or cornmeal. Use dyes and colors, but I found that once you add the other ingredients, the bars and take an attractive and natural looking character.

Some tips on smelling ...

The smells here are pretty universal for men and women alike. I'd like to keep subtle flavors in the side, and stay away from floral scents too unless of course you know that the person receiving the gift will enjoy it. By experimenting with flavor combinations sense odor often suddenly overloaded, making it difficult to sample each odor. A tip from a local soap manufacturer once told me is to keep coffee beans near class and the clean smell of olfactory palate between batches. Coffee grounds, by the way, are the ideal ingredient to include in a kitchen soap as it tends to eliminate or at least mask strong odors. This is great for when you have lots of chopped onions, for example.

Molds ...

Blackberry has carried a variety molds for soaps. You can also find the molds in your local craft store or Michael. I personally use only a standard rectangular mold soap I received Michael. Once again, I think the ingredients of soap bars sufficiently attractive, and have found unusual ways that could only make them appear chaotic and busy.
