We do our shopping and purchasing our products for hair care and assume we are doing the right things for hair health. Through the promotion and marketing led to believe that some of the products available today are things that simply can not do without. But is this true?

To find the answer you must first examine the structure of hair. Beneath the skin is the hair follicle, sebaceous glands and blood vessels. Hair consists of proteins. When you wash your hair that causes the gland to produce sebum. This oily substance coats and protects the hair from the elements. It also stimulates blood vessels that provide nourishment to their hair needs. Brush the hair and scalp and massage are beneficial for healthy hair.

With commercial products, most shampoos and conditioners contain chemicals and synthetic products. In shampoos, that means more can be cleaned your hair and strip it of its precious oils. Now you need to replace the condition of the oils. It can damage the scalp and hair follicles. The same applies to the laundry detergents. Fillers are equipped with soap and less real, so they can sell more detergent. It's a money making strategy that has worked and will continue to so.

Now if you're like most people, you have read the labels, but have no idea what the ingredients actually and what is its function. This is in simple terms:

1) Distereate and propylene glycol and glycol are petroleum based (crude oil). They are very cheap that is why they are widely used in the cosmetics industry.

Isopropyl alcohol 2) is another very cheap solvent.

3) Propylparaben or Methylparen preservatives that are synthetic. The human body normally does not understand synthetic organic means.

Cetearyl Alcohol 4) is an emulsifier and may be natural or synthetic. Synthetic is often used because it is cheaper and easier to produce.

These petrochemicals are absorbed through skin, then through the organs and tissues. Many believe that long term exposure to these toxins can cause permanent damage to any part the body, and yet governments have joined the great industry that does not require disclosure of what these products contain or what they really are. Instead, we have great Invented names can not pronounce let alone understand.

The solution? It's not as difficult as it seems. It is the closest food store healthy or even your own refrigerator. Here are some tips:

1) Buy a liquid soap natural health food store. Also buy some essential oils such as lavender (for all hair types), rosemary, Clary sage, cedar, birch and mint (for hair loss), bergamot, rosewood, eucalyptus, etc. We also purchase natural oils such as olive, jojoba, or avocado. This is what we do, in a clean spray bottle, pour in half cup water distilled or spring water. Add 1 cup of liquid soap. Then take 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil and add 10 to 20 drops of essential oil of your choice. It may be only one or more oils combined. Stir gently. There you have it. Simple as that! (Essential oils should always be a vegetable oil base, due to its concentration). You should not need a cream rinse after that because the oils are replaced.

2) If you need deep conditioning, try to saturate hair with mayonnaise or hot olive oil. Wrap tightly and covered with a shower cap and let stand in hair for approximately 20 minutes, then rinse. Also may take 2 egg yolks and whisk until frothy, then add a little hot water. Pour over hair and leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse well.

3) It is a good idea to make a final rinse your hair with something acidic like cider vinegar, lemon juice, beer or milk. Add any of these ingredients with a little water to rinse the hair with alkali to restore the acid balance of your hair and scalp and remove any residue that may have left on the hair.

There are many good natural recipes for healthy hair, but these are a few things to start in the right direction. Experiment with different essential oils and vegetables to find what you like. Natural, the body means, so here's a good hair day!
