How can you make basic "lab" soap?

How can you make soap using apparatus and chemicals found in a chemistry lab? A simple procedure please, very basic. Would the preparation time exceed 5 minutes?

The basic procedure for making soap is to mix a vegetable oil with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution and stir while heating to boiling. This must be done carefully to avoid being burned. After the soap is made, then it should be "washed" with 5% NaCl solution to remove any unreacted NaOH.
