Soap making is a craft easy and fun pastime. But the manufacture of soap can be a great part time business. Many People pull in a thousand or two over a month with a part-time venture.

What is the appeal of handmade soap? Commercial soaps are usually be drying and many are actually synthetic detergents. The cuisine of homemade soap may work better. It has a special moisturizing luxury feel. Plus you have the option to customize with different ingredients ... especially scents in literally infinite variety. This can be a recipe for goat milk soap or any another kind of milk too.

This gives one of our proven recipes and basic instructions to put it all together.

Our specialty is milk soap. We have over 30,000 bars of soap like this in our kitchen sink for a period of four years. We sold all that soap craft fairs and festivals and through our own catalog. Although you can make soap with water instead of milk, you'll like the milk soap better quality ... Guaranteed!

Lightly Lavender Goat Milk Soap Recipe

11.3 ounces (320 grams) of coconut oil

11.7 ounces (330 grams) of Palm Oil

15.5 ounces (440 grams) Olive Oil

3.9 ounces (110 grams) Almond Oil

6.1 oz (175 g) Sodium hydroxide

15.5 ounces (440 g) whole milk

2 1 / 3 tablespoons of Lavender Essential Oil

1 tablespoon Almond Oil

Now for some "inside information". To make any soap, fats and a mixture of alkali or bleach. All soap is made that way. The cured product is harmless. You can brush your teeth with it. You can even eat. It will not hurt!

But the bleach and uncured soap mixture are very caustic. It burns the skin. He is blind if it gets in your eyes! It is absolutely necessary to wear glasses when you make soap and it's best wear of the rubber gloves and long sleeves.

Equipment needed

2 Stainless Steel Pans

1 Pan Plastic

Rubber Spatula

Thermometer (90-200 degree F Range)

Scale for weighing materials

Soap molds (plastic tub)

Hand Held Stick Blender (Optional)

Soap Making Step by Step

1. Weigh oils and combine in stainless steel pan.

2. Heat slowly until everything melts. Cool to about 110 degrees. Excluding the oil smell or the small amount of almond oil.

3. Weigh bleach in a plastic container. Remember that gloves and goggles.

4. Weigh the milk and pour into a separate stainless steel pan.

5. Put 2-3 inches of water in the sink and add ice cubes. Put your bread with the milk in ice water.

6. Slowly pour the lye into the milk. Take twenty minutes to do this, stirring all the time. Monitoring the temperature of the milk and keep it below 150 degrees so it does not burn. When all the lye is added, let the mixture to cool until it is 110 degrees.

7. Add milk / lye mixture to oils, stirring as you do, now remove the soap mixture until begins to curdle. It's time to stop stirring when a thin stream of soap sprayed on the top of the soap
mixture sets on top. This is called tracking. If agitation by hand this process may take 45 minutes. To speed things up, the trick is to use your hand mixer to remove the soap for 30 seconds, then allow to rest for a minute and repeat until all traces.

8. Add the oils and the scent of almond oil extra.

9. Pour into the prepared pans. Let stand for 24 hours. Remove the molds. Cut into bars and set aside to cure for 4 weeks.

These are the basic instructions. Lots of soap making the books are out there, but many do it so complicated it is difficult to move forward. Even if you consult some of the books, back to these instructions to the basics. Try this recipe. You'll love the result.

I have been making and experimenting with my own home made soap. I've added an unusual odor, I have the wonderful luxury bars Heavy skin care Glycerin soap and my recent innovation is exfoliating soap.
