Home Made Herbal Beauty Products

Basic Ingredients

The most important consideration to take into account when making herbal preparations is to only use the best quality products you can find. Good quality oils and natural essential oils are combined to make a far superior product than that produced by cheap oil and chemical, synthetic oils. Natural products are much less likely to cause allergies skin, but it's always good to test the finished product in a fraction of his own skin, if not the receiver.

Essential oils are produced from many aromatic plants, using both leaf and stem, or flower, depending on the plant. Although it is possible to extract these essential oils yourself is a long and fun to make some beauty products and herbal gifts is to have fairly immediate results. If you are really concocting potions attractive, there are plenty of opportunities for experimentation found in specialized books available.

Packaging

As with all products, which is the packaging that gives the finishing touch and makes all the difference between something that looks homemade and a little dubious or exciting and luxurious. If you keep your eyes open in old stores and garage sales, you will discover that there are plenty of interesting old bottles around. Thick glass bottles with a green or blue tone can look wonderful when decorated with a satin ribbon and very few flowers. The seal is probably best done with a cork, which can be trimmed to fit any size bottle. Screw-top bottles are another possibility, but not the same old-fashioned appeal.

Another nice idea is to buy a glass bottle with a stopper perfume ground to prevent evaporation. The container can often be treasured and then reused. Sprays can give a wonderful feeling of luxury to some of them homemade scented water. There are many unusual perfume bottles available and make an impressive display on a table pretty dress. As a complete contrast, there are some promising form of containers that are in grocery stores and supermarkets, if you look closely the next time you buy, you will be surprised how many ways adequate and there between the sizes of the pots of mustard, vinegar bottles, mayonnaise jars or bottles of squash and cordial. You may have to cover the lid, or replace by a cork screw cap depending on how attractive it is when opened, yet there are many possibilities.

Always label your product with care and add instructions to whether to stay in the refrigerator or in cold conditions. Have an expiration date may also be a good idea if there is anything that has a life quite short. Labels can be hand-decorated or printed and bound with a ribbon around the neck of the bottle. You can also use a sticker and attach to the body of the bottle. Many products can be packed together in a basket or basket with cotton balls or other containers to fill the basket and prevent bottles from breaking. Home-made potpourri makes a very good contribution for baskets - you can organize a careful selection of bottles between the potpourri, then cover the basket with strips of cellophane before decorating with nice loop.

Bath Time Products

There is nothing more magical than a perfume soaking in a hot bath after one days really exhausting and stressful. The smell of herbal products can add considerably to the relaxation and many bath preparations are very simple to do.

There are two main groups of herbs in these preparations - herbs to promote relaxation and to help revive you. Relaxing herbs include chamomile, scented geranium, jasmine, lavender, neroli (orange blossom) and hops. The most stimulating and reviving herbs are basil, lemon verbena, rosemary, lemon balm and bergamot.

Although it is a tempting thought to spread herbs through the waters of its relaxing bath, I do not recommend you try it! Speaking from bitter experience that causes many problems of obstruction in the pipes and feel very uncomfortable when sitting on a stalk particularly sharp! The best how to use fresh herbs is to place them in a muslin bag bath.

Bath Bags

Cut circles about 9 cm in diameter cloth and place 2 tablespoons fresh herbs or less broken in the center of each. Dried herbs are so successful. Gather the edges of the circle together and make a small package, holding it in place with an elastic band. Then attach the whole package tape to cover the rubber band, making a loop long enough to hang from the taps so that hang in the water. A series of bath bags with different colored ribbons to indicate different herbs or herbal blends, could be put together with a collection of bath time is another. Do not write clear instructions on a label that is not confused with bouquet garni and put in a stew!

Flour of oats can be added to the contents of the bags bathroom. Use equal amounts of herbs and oatmeal, as it helps soften the skin.

Oils Bath

These are very simple to do and very relaxing. The quality oil base must be good - preferably almonds for normal to dry skin or safflower for normal to oily skin. The only oil that completely disperse in the bath water is a form of castor oil called turkey red oil. However, it is easily available in health food stores, unlike the others, and so I recommend testing the safflower, almond instead.

Choose some essential oils to relax or revive (see suggestions above) and make sure they are quality natural oils instead of chemicals. Fragrance chemicals are POT-pourris excellent and products that come into contact with the skin, but is safer to use natural oils for skin preparation, if the receiver is allergic to chemicals.

To make the oil, add 5 drops of essential oil to each tablespoon of almond or safflower oil is put in the bottle. Shake well before using. You can use an essential oil such as rosemary or lavender, or you can mix - pink and orange lavender or rosemary and mix well. The possibilities are endless and the fun begins when you start choosing your essential oils. These should be available at your local health food store or beauty salon.

Washballs and Soaps

Washballs date back to Elizabethan times and so are traditional forms of soap. Soap making at home can be long time, so I've included a recipe using a pure soap, fragrance free and made to expedite the process. Traditionally, soap is made with tallow, which made or melted animal fat. It should be available from your local butcher and you can melt in a heavy saucepan over low heat and then sneaks into the screw-top jars of jam to the storage. Be careful when making soap, such as caustic soda used can burn the skin, so wear rubber gloves and handle with care.

Lavender and Rose Washballs

2x5 oz normal Castile soap bars, finely grated
8 fluid ounces of rose or lavender water
5 drops of essential oil lavender
5 drops of rose essential oil

3 fl oz of hot pink or lavender and water is poured onto the soap. Let is stand for about ten minutes. Mix well and then add the rose and lavender oils. Leave to harden for two days. Then make the mixture into small balls, each the size of a ball table tennis or a little smaller, and let dry in a dry airy place. When washballs have fully hardened, it can be polished with a cloth dampened with the rest of the rose or lavender, or washing hands with pink or lavender and rub the ball in his hands. Let dry before packaging.

Floral vinegar bath

Floral vinegars can smooth the skin when used in the bathroom and are very refreshing, if kept in the refrigerator and dried in a fevered brow at times of stress! Of apple cider vinegar has a delicate aroma and makes an excellent base.

There are various herbs and flowers that can be mixed with vinegar. The main consideration will probably be the ingredients that are easier for you to obtain. Successful plants include jasmine flowers, rose petals, lavender, the flowers and stems, leaves, scented geranium, lemon balm or lemon verbena leaves and rosemary.

Place a bouquet of flowers and herbs mixed or single variety (Rose and lavender, with a little jasmine works well, or scented geranium and lemon verbena) in a glass jar and fill with cider vinegar. Replace the lid or seal with a cork and place in a sunny place for a couple of weeks. Then, strain vinegar, making sure you release as much moisture as possible herbs, and pour into a pitcher measurement. Half-fill a bottle with vinegar scented with water from a spring. A bottle of vinegar therefore fill two bottles of the same size with vinegar flowers. To use, pour a generous amount in the bathroom with the keys to everything.

Orange Blossom Bath Salts

8 oz of baking soda
1 pound sea salt
1 / 2 fl oz Neroli (orange blossom) essential oil

Mix baking soda and sea salt, then add essential oil and store in a closed flask. Food coloring may be added if desired. Use three tablespoons per bath.

Lemon Verbena Bubbles

12 oz pure soap flakes
3 / 4 pint of spring water
1 / 4 fl oz from essential oil of lemon verbena
1 fl oz vodka
2 fl oz glycerin

Heat water and dissolve the soap flakes in it. In another bowl, mix the essential oil with glycerine and vodka. Combining these two mixes and add one drop of yellow food color or green if you wish. Store in a wide-mouthed jar with lid sealed.

Orange and Cinnamon Soap

4 fl oz spring water
2 tablespoons of caustic soda
4 oz melted tallow
1 teaspoon of neroli (orange blossom) essential oil
1 teaspoon Cinnamon essential oil
4 fl oz from safflower oil

Wear rubber gloves, pour the water into a large heat-proof glass bowl. Add the caustic soda and mix well with a wooden spoon. Add the melted tallow and shake vigorously. Then add the safflower oil and neroli essential oils and cinnamon. Beat well and pour into plastic molds. Leave to set. Once set, ease of soap molds and let dry in an airy place for two weeks.

Cucumber and Mint Soap

4 fl oz spring water
large bunch fresh mint, any variety
2 tablespoons of caustic soda
4 oz white vegetable fat, melted
6 drops peppermint essential oil
8 fluid ounces of almond oil
1 / 2 cucumber

Stirred, or place in a processor food, mint leaves and spring water. Pour into a bowl and leave for a couple of hours. It beats (or process) cucumber. Drain the water from the heat source in a large container proof glass, discarding the mint leaves, then add the caustic soda (make sure you are wearing rubber gloves). Stir with a wooden spoon, then add melted shortening. Add 4 tablespoons pureed cucumber, almond oil and essential oil of peppermint. Beat well and pour mixture into plastic molds. Soaps small can be made in molds shaped ice cube or into larger pots or similar containers of yogurt. Leave to set for two days.

Gently ease soaps molds and then go into a closet to air or other dry airy place for two weeks before using.

Note: You can help line mold with plastic film as it can solve any problem in removing the soap once it has set.
