Stories abound about bizarre, catfish bait 'secrets' sure to bring in the best catches of monster catfish, and though none of them seems more preposterous than the average person, it seems that catfish soap bait might be a strange secret that works quite well.

One thing to remember, if you are try your luck at catching catfish bait soap is that not all soaps are created equal. In fact, your everyday, run of the mill soap only could act as a repellent than a bait to attract catfish on your line. The soap must be 100% pure and contain no preservatives, no deodorants, perfumes or ingredients luxury.

Catfishermen trademarks mentioned two in particular that work very well catching catfish. The two most well known brands to attract catfish are Zoat and soaps Ivory brand. These two brands have filled gear boxes avid catfish fishermen for centuries, fishermen catfish but increasingly rely on family recipes for catfish bait soap that never fails to say great, tasty catfish in their freezers trip after trip.

One of the houses has been introduced bait soap is lye soap standard. Now, if you do not want to make your own, usually can be found in various places, such as specialty stores. You will need:
6 Water C.
24 oz Pure lye (sodium hydroxide)
12 lbs. animal fats or lard
* Attention! Bleach is caustic and should always be handled with care. Follow manufacturer cautions, precautions and warnings to ensure your safety!
* Attention! The bleach reacts with the metal. Always use bleach only in glass or plastic!

TIP: It is important to pour the bleach in the water (no bleach in water), stirring to dissolve. Be very careful not to splash or spill. Attend to spills or splashing with great care. Allow the mixture of bleach and water at room temperature. Melt the fat animal in a secure container stove top. Once the fat melts, let cool about 90 degrees F.
Do not leave begins to solidify. As you remove the fat with a metal timber (no) spoon, gradually stir in the mixture of lye and water. The mixture immediately begins to thicken and harden. Be sure to stir until all the lye and water were added, and a cake consistency is achieved. At this point, you can add ingredients to enhance your fishing experience. Canned corn juice

The stirring process can take up to an hour to complete. Then the soap mixture can be poured into containers so you can configure. Most people use milk cartons or jugs to reduce to a manageable size. It may take three or four days or more for the soap to set and harden. Remember, you must Use only glass or plastic containers and utensils, and never put the soap mixture into metal containers.
