Do ALL soaps contain alkali?

Liquid/bar? Even for Castile and Marseille soaps, they all contain certain extent of alkaline chemicals as well (usually lye or soda ash) in various quantities. (But I never saw a pure Castile soap, though. I heard that it should contain 100% pure olive oil - so does it NOT contain any alkaline chemicals at all?)

Are there any types of soap that are 100% alkali-free and only made by pure vegetable oil? Or is the alkali a main/important element in soapmaking process, otherwise you can't make a soap? And what would you suggest to use for people who have sensitive skin or have allergic to alkaline chemicals/substances?
Well, what about that pure Castile soap (which is said to be made of 100% olive oil)? Does it really NOT contain any alkali at all? Has anybody here ever heard or used it?

And what about glycerin? Is it also an alkaline substance? Can glycerin soaps be used to replace the alkali-based soap? Or is it the same?

There ARE some types of alkali free soaps, but they're very hard to come by, and very expensive at that!

I've taken the time to find you one, and it's $8, so it's pretty steep.

I, myself have very sensitive skin, I suffer with eczema and as a result of it, I have a coeliac disease, so it's pretty bad. Anyway... I use simple soaps. They're soft on the skin and they help to keep my skin smooth and soft. I used to use Dove, but they have the most toxins in their products than anyone on the market!

I use simple because I'm on a budget, but I'd sure buy the alkali free if I wasn't.

Good luck! :)
