Lanolin is a common ingredient in everything from soaps to lotions to lip balms. I made a list myself as an ingredient in more than a bottle lotion and soap. That made me wonder what exactly it is and where it comes from? Is friendlly animals and safe for our use? We watched an episode of "How It's Made "months ago, which was discussed at the next lanolin, and I wanted to share with you what we have learned about sheep production and lanolin.

We have learned that lanolin is a fatty, yellow, waxy substance that comes from the wool of sheep. It is excreted by the sebaceous glands skin, and acts as a waterproofing to keep cool. The glands associated with hair follicles. It is possible that fat is also called wool, wool wax or wool fat. I prefer to call lanolin - just sounds classier. Its name comes from the Latin words LANA wool and oleum for oil. It's really a wax, chemically speaking, but has been called an oil or fat for centuries.

Lanolin has been used for over 8000 years for each breeding sheep culture of the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Vikings, and even the Chinese. The ancient Egyptians used to put the blocks of the same in his head, which melted in the sun and provide a soft smooth skin. Lanolin soaps can be found in many cosmetics, ointments, creams, and is used as a lubricant, and finishing and preservation leather. Surprisingly, it is also an ingredient in some varnishes and paints and some bitumen.

Although lanolin is natural, many people have reactions allergic to it. You can also clog your pores and can cause flare up. *** Tips: If you have used products with lanolin, and have not had no bad reaction, well keep using them because the lanolin is a completely natural ingredient.
