Castile Soap

There is a myth that has run recently that soap was discovered by women washing the clothes of the sites below human and animal sacrifice. How does the soap gives an idea of how this myth began.

The production of soap has been going on for a very long time. There is a recipe for soap which was written on a clay tablet in Babylon, somewhere around 2200 BC, which requires a mixture of water, alkalis, and Cassia Oil. Egyptians, Romans, Greek society and also soap is used in various forms. Until recently, soap making was a craft and not practiced on a large scale at all. The simple reason for this was that people do not use much, nor see a lot of advantage is washed on a regular basis.

Much of the early soap was more likely to have been used for the washing of textiles and clothing anyway. This use has been taken by detergents, for the most part, and used more soap for personal hygiene of the hands and body. However, the soap was mass produced in the last hundred and fifty years, because science and medicine have recognized the relationship between personal hygiene and the spread of infectious disease.

Soap is made by mixing a fatty acid of some sort with an alkali in a process called saponification. The prescription of ancient Babylon, cassia oil, provided that the fatty acid and alkali was more likely some kind of chemicals like Soda Ash. Hydroxide sodium, caustic soda, lye or potassium hydroxide are examples of alkaloid substances used in this process. The end result of saponification soap flakes is the crude glycerol. The resulting product is boiled to remove sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide and glycerol.

The next step is the elimination water by the drying of soap powder is that it can be compacted into pellets and then molded into common bars or other desired shape. The fatty material used in the original process varies. Rendered beef fat tallowate produces sodium and this is a common product in soap production. Palm oil is an example of a vegetable oil that tends to produce a mild soap. Pure olive oil is used in the production of a type known as castile soap.

Is the use of rendered fats which led to the myths about water below the sacrificial sites to get clean clothes. This myth was mentioned by a character in a recent film, Fight Club. It is rather unlikely the presence of fat extracted in the water would have been very helpful in cleaning clothes in the river of primitive women without the rest of the process soap-making.

Regular washing the body of liquid vs. liquid castile soap?

I've never heard of castile soap or used before. Castile soap is better? If so how? I'm considering the purchase of castile soap just curious. I did a little research and know that the regular liquid soap can be made with animal fat soap and Castile is herbal. But when leads to effects on the skin or the environment which is better? Lyn, I'm not sure I understand your answer, because I ask both soaps are liquid. Besides, what do you mean by someone touching the soap?
